Biography

Board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and cataract and refractive surgeon. Dr. Chen is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons where he received numerous awards and honors, including the Edith and Denton McKane Outstanding Ophthalmology Research Award. Dr. Chen completed his medical internship at Northwestern University and his ophthalmology residency training at Columbia-Presbyterian Edward Harkness Eye Institute where he served as Chief Resident. To further his training and experience, Dr. Chen also completed a sub-specialized LASIK / PRK fellowship training at the world-renowned Gimbel Eye Centre in Canada. Professionally Dr. Chen has performed thousands of cataract and refractive surgeries to date and is committed to providing advanced eye care services for his patients. Currently, Dr. Chen is an attending surgeon at Ramapo Valley Surgical Center and Good Samaritan / Westchester Medical Center. In addition to his work as a refractive and cataract surgeon, Dr. Chen enjoys a number of outside activities including camping, scuba diving, adventure cruises, and astronomy.
